Questions   What is the difference between the spectral analysis being performed under Spectral Analyzer and Real-Time Spectrum Analyser? Answer   The Spectral Analysis graph allows you to see how the levels of the frequency span vary up and down as the signals change but there is no way to get a feel for how  long any given signal was present.…

Questions   What is the value in performing RFoCPRI analysis as opposed to normal Spectrum Analysis via an attached antenna? Answer   Including RFoCPRI is recommended as you are viewing the spectrum as received by the wireless provider's antenna as opposed to the over the air measurement performed by a portable antenna. It gives you a better…

Questions   How is interference caused by PIM different than the interference detected in the SA Interference Analysis? Answer   Testing performed in Interference Analysis is for detecting interference at specific frequencies coming from other wireless sources over the air. PIM Detection testing is to detect wideband interference caused locally…

Questions   What is a .grrv file, on my ONA-800 SA module and how can it be viewed? Answer   The .grrv file is a log file that is created under Interference Analysis by selecting SAVE and then LOGGING.  Data can be collected for long term (hours or days). To end the logging sessson you click on the X of the LOGGING icon in the upper right of…

Questions   When is a Gated Sweep used when performing RF Spectral Analysis? Answer   A Gated Sweep is used when looking for interference on Time Division Duplex (TDD) RF signals. As the uplink and downlink signals are on the same frequencies, time has to be used to separate the downlink from the uplink. Uplink signals (from the mobile device…

Solution   My FI-60 LFI head is not detecting my tone on the fiber. Instead of displaying the tone frequency, it just says TRAFFIC. Problem This can happen if the jacket of the fiber jumper is quite thick. Try a fiber with thinner jacket. The LFI head is capable of showing the tone frequency for  270Hz, 330hZ, 1Khz or 2Khz. See examples of thin…
