This article explains how to collect the hardware and software details (i.e. Configuration info) from ONT-5xx and ONT-6xx mainframes and measurement modules.

Overview

This article explains how to collect the hardware and software details from ONT-5xx and ONT-6xx mainframes and measurement modules. Accessing the configuration info on an ONT-5xx mainframe displays hardware and software details of it and all installed measurement modules. Accessing the configuration info on an ONT-6xx measurement module displays the module's hardware and software details, along with the type and serial number of the mainframe in which it is installed. On an ONT-603/606/612 equipped with a High End Controller (HEC), the installed software version, along with the mainframe type and serial number, are available from its home web page. Note that the configuration info does not provide details of the measurement application configuration.

Solution Steps

1) Accessing the configuration info on ONT-5xx:
a) Open the application GUI for the ONT-5xx mainframe from which the information needs to be gathered
b) Click on the Help menu at the top of the GUI and select "Configuration info..." to open a window displaying the hardware and software details
c) Click the "Save as..." button at the bottom to save the information to a PDF file
d) Repeat the above steps for any additional ONT-5xx mainframes 2) Accessing the configuration info on ONT-6xx modules:
a) Open the application GUI for the ONT-6xx module from which the information needs to be gathered
b) Click on the Help menu at the top of the GUI and select "Configuration info..." to open a window displaying the hardware and software details of the module
c) Click the "Save as..." button at the bottom to save the information to a PDF file
d) Repeat the above steps for any additional ONT-6xx modules 3) Displaying installed software version, along with the mainframe type and serial number, on an ONT-603/606/612 equipped with a High End Controller (HEC):
a) Open the ONT-6xx HEC home web page using one of the following methods;
i) From the ONT ocal Linux desktop, click the FireFox icon on the panel (normally located at top of window). If the home web page is not displayed automatically, click the browser's house icon on the upper right.
ii) On a remote client PC/workstation, enter the ONT-6xx mainframe IP address into the URL field of your browser
b) Record the software name displayed under "About Mainframe:" on the right side of the page
c) Record the mainframe type and serial number displayed at the top of the page

Additional Information

If the GUI is being accessed from the ONT local Linux desktop, extracting the configuration info file requires that it be saved to a USB stick plugged into a port on the mainframe controller. If accessing the GUI remotely via Java Web Start, the file may be saved directly to the client PC.
